According to a recent news, 55% of Britons do not believe that the Bitcoin ban will make the world greener.
A YouGov poll revealed that more than half of UK citizens think banning Bitcoin will not be an effective measure to combat climate change.
The energy crisis of Bitcoin, which was turned into a major FUD in the past months, caused a huge drop in Bitcoin. At that time, the energy consumption of Bitcoin mining was touted as a major problem and received support in many circles. Arguments, on the other hand, have centered around some data, such as Bitcoin consuming even more electricity than some countries (like the Philippines) consume annually. After all the confusion, a poll found that 55% of Britons disagreed.
Data varied within different age groups. While only 21% of those under 24 supported a Bitcoin ban, 65% of respondents aged 65 and over agreed. On the other hand, male participants were more likely to oppose such a ban.
Canada Will Use Mining To Warm Up
However, it may not be correct to consider Bitcoin mining as a mere waste. As we reported recently, the authorities of North Vancouver, a Canadian city, announced that they have decided to use the energy released by Bitcoin mining to heat residential and commercial buildings.
The initiative is scheduled to go live in 2022. If North Vancouver succeeds, it will be the first city to use Bitcoin mining in this way.
