XRP and some coins accepted
According to the news of the Zagreb-based 24sata newspaper on December 1, Croatia’s largest supermarket chain Konzum, founded in 1957, started to accept cryptocurrencies in its online store. Supported cryptocurrencies include Ether (ETH), Bitcoin (BTC), Ripple (XRP), Stellar Lumen (XLM) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH), as well as two stablecoins (Tether [USDT] and DAI).
Shoppers will now be able to purchase food, hygiene items, household goods and other products with the cryptocurrencies mentioned above. Konzum chain of stores has partnered with Croatian fintech company Electrocoin to use the PayCek system to facilitate crypto payments. Store officials have spent several weeks testing the service before it’s official rollout as Christmas approaches. According to the information received, crypto is also coming to Konzum’s physical stores. Cryptocurrency payments will also be gradually made available in Konzum’s physical stores across the country. The company will launch with 60 self-paying locations. From now on, new payment options will be available in 630 stores of all sizes across Croatia.
