The popular online rental giant may soon offer an option to pay with cryptocurrencies.
Hospitality app Airbnb may be on its way to adding cryptocurrency payments. The company’s CEO, Brian Chesky, recently revealed on Twitter that booking accommodation with the help of cryptocurrencies is the number one demand for this year.

On January 3, Chesky asked his Twitter followers for recommendations for Airbnb. After reviewing thousands of tweets, the CEO concluded that the demand for cryptocurrencies is clearly ahead. This is followed by clear pricing indicators, a loyalty program for guests, updated cleaning fees and improved customer service.
Chesky also said that he has seen various token ideas. This likely means that Airbnb’s future cryptocurrency payment lineup will not be limited to one or two tokens.

Airbnb currently accepts Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. In September, Chesky also explained in an interview with Fox Business that Airbnb received a large number of requests for cryptocurrency payments:
The world’s number one rental company bought Bitcoin tip service ChangeTip in 2016. It is worth noting that Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, one of the richest people in the world, is also a former Airbnb employee.
