Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Şahap Kavcıoğlu made a statement about cryptocurrencies at today’s investor meeting. Kavcıoğlu said, “We are disturbed by a certain part of cryptocurrencies.”
CBRT held a meeting via video conferencing. Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Şahap Kavcıoğlu first mentioned the excessive volatility in the exchange rates. Kavcıoğlu said, “Extreme volatility in exchange rates is also not a desirable situation. Under certain conditions, the Central Bank can only intervene in excessive volatility without seeking permanent direction. I would like to reiterate that there has been no change in the CBRT’s monetary policy focused on reducing inflation,” he said.
We Are Uncomfortable With The Money Going To Crypto
The CBRT President also spoke about cryptocurrencies. Kavcıoğlu used the following statements:
“Most of the currency goes to deposits. We are uncomfortable with a certain part that goes to crypto money. ”
