Mercado Libre users will be able to use crypto trading and custody services starting this week.
Mercado Libre, Latin America’s largest e-commerce platform by market cap, will allow users in Brazil to buy, sell and hold crypto.
Mercado Libre did not specify which company it partnered with for this service, but stated that it entered the crypto market with a “worldwide protector”. The company stressed that it “analyzes all the financial and regulatory aspects that frame this technology.”
The company has been giving important tips to strengthen its crypto services for a long time. Osvaldo Gimenez, president of Mercado Pogo, emphasized that Bitcoin and Ethereum could be a revolution in finance in an interview with Bloomberg Linea in August.
In a tweet shared by the CEO of the company, Marcos Galperin said that users will be able to trade and hold crypto from this week.
