US Federal Reserve (Fed) announced expected inflation data. Accordingly, inflation in the USA was announced as 7% as expected.
Annual inflation in the USA, which was 6.8% in November, rose to 7% in December.
Bloomberg Economics had predicted that supply problems due to the new variant of Covid could put upward pressure on US inflation. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, who made statements before the presentation of the data, stated that high inflation is a serious threat and that the Fed will do whatever is necessary to rein in inflation.
Economists polled by Dow Jones had expected the measure to rise 7% year-on-year and 0.4% year-on-year. The annual movement was the fastest increase since June 1982.
Excluding food and energy prices, CPI increased by 5.5% on an annual basis and by 0.6% compared to the previous month.
