As it is known, there were studies about the movie theater chain AMC’s acceptance of Shiba Inu (SHIB) as a payment method.
Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Theatres, also confirmed this. The CEO stated that he will add the Shiba Inu as a payment option. The company is currently working to bring the second largest meme cryptocurrency to its customers:
Aron said he has seen a “tidal wave” of being more active in the cryptocurrencies space.
After first announcing that AMC will begin accepting Bitcoin for online payments by the end of the year on its website and smartphone app, the world’s largest movie chain has continued to expand its list of options with Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash. Aron then took a poll on Twitter to find out if the company should add Dogecoin payments after the meme was flooded with cryptocurrency-related messages.
After the majority of Twitter users voted in favor of accepting Dogecoin, the company confirmed that the meme coin will appear among the available payment options in the first quarter of 2022.
More crypto plans
Aron said the company has found ways to not keep cryptocurrencies on its balance sheet, as it deepens their stride into crypto with more payment options. This way, the cinema chain will not be exposed to the additional risks associated with accepting cryptocurrencies.
However, AMC is also considering issuing its own digital currency, which the company can keep on its balance sheet.
