Renewal projects in tourism accelerated, investments were completed.

In the past 2022, incentive certificates were obtained for a total of 250 projects aiming at 130 completely new and 120 renovation investments, while 148 new hotels with a total bed capacity of 65 thousand will be put into service in 41 provinces of Turkey, one of the facilities that were started to be built earlier this year.
A total of 2,856 new accommodation facilities will be put into service worldwide this year, of which 1,549 will be in China. Of the facilities to be put into service in Turkey, 67 are in the category of 5-star, 40 in 4-star, 25 in 3-star and 16 in boutique hotels.
Weight in investments in Marmara
Most of the investments realized in 41 provinces across Turkey are carried out in the Marmara Region. 21 of the 30 hotels that will be put into service in Istanbul will be in the five-star category. According to the provinces, the distribution of the new hotels that will open their doors this year is Istanbul with 20 hotels, 10 of which are 5-star, Antalya with 10 facilities, İzmir with 10 facilities, İzmir with 9 hotels, Nevşehir with 7 facilities, Çanakkale with 5 facilities each, Ankara, Balıkesir with 5 facilities and 3 facilities each. Bursa, Kayseri, Kocaeli, Mersin, Sakarya, Şanlıurfa, Van with each hotel, Denizli, Erzurum, Mardin, Ordu, Samsun, Tekirdağ, Trabzon and Yalova with 2 facilities each follow.
Among the hotels that will be put into service this year is the 204-room Divan Talya Hotel, which was opened in Antalya in 1975 and was closed for renovation in 2013 after 38 years of operation. IHG Hotels, one of the international chain hotels serving with 28 hotels in Turkey, will open two new hotels in the summer of this year. These; 140-room Crowne Plaza Istanbul Ortakoy Bosphorus, 115-room Holiday Inn Erzurum.
Şafak Güvenç, Regional Vice President of Marriott International Körfez, Levant and Turkey, one of the world’s largest hotel chains, said, “We will open other hotels from our brands by the end of the year, including Hotel DeCamondo Galata, a Tribute Hotel and Burdock Hotel Istanbul, Autograph Collection. We will add new ones to 18 brands in Turkey.
We are also planning to bring new brands such as Moxy Hotels, Westin Hotels, Tribute Portfolio and Marriott Executive Apartments to Turkey.”
Number of beds exceeded 2 million
The total bed capacity in Turkey has exceeded 2 million, including those with operating licenses from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and municipalities, and those in the project that have received an investment certificate from the ministry.
As of September 2022, Turkey has a total bed capacity of 2 million 94 thousand, of which 1 million 955 thousand are in operation and 139 thousand are in the investment stage.
Incentives received for 17 new hotels, 22 renovation projects
In the field of accommodation, investments for the renewal of both completely new and operating ones continue to increase.
Among the accommodation-related projects, for which the Ministry of Industry and Technology gave incentive certificates in November 2022, the ones for renewal have outstripped the projects for complete new investment purposes.
While 17 of the projects that received the incentive certificate in November envisaged completely new investments, the number of renewal projects that were awarded the incentive certificate became 22. Incentive certificates were issued for a total of 39 tourism investments.
