According to Solana’s report, a transaction on the network consumes less energy than two Google searches.
One of the leading blockchain projects, Solana, published a report titled Solana’s Energy Use on November 25. In the report, besides the energy consumed by Solana, the energy consumed by technology giants such as Google was also criticized. Accordingly, a transaction in Solana consumes less energy than two Google searches.
As it is known, with Bitcoin’s energy crisis, environmental blockchain projects were under close scrutiny. In the period when the crisis in question caused a decline in the market, environmental projects such as Solana had experienced great rises.
In figures, the report states that a single Solana operation consumes 0.000051 kWh or 1,836 joules of energy. A single Google search, on the other hand, equates to about 1,080 joules of energy.

It also consumes less energy than keeping an LED bulb that consumes about 36,000 joules on for one hour, or working for an hour with a computer and monitor that takes about 46,800 joules.
The report also touched on the annual energy consumption of the Solana network. Accordingly, the annual energy consumption of the network is only 3,186,000 kWh. This equates to the average electricity use of 986 households in the US.
