Two officials from Sweden expressed their views on crypto mining in the country.
The chief executives of the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency stated that if crypto mining continues in the country, renewable energy will run out in the country, thus not fulfilling the obligations of the Paris Agreement.
The energy used in crypto mining has been a topic of discussion in the entire industry for a long time. For this reason, the crypto industry is increasing its efforts to mine with green energy every day.
Sweden needs renewable energy to comply with the Paris Agreement. But consumption by miners prevents the country from complying with the requirements of the Paris Agreement. This is why the CEO of the two institutions believes that mining should be banned.
Environmentalists continue to make the carbon footprint of Bitcoin mining an issue. Tesla CEO Elon Musk also stated that Tesla has suspended accepting payments with Bitcoin for this reason.
