Safemoon, Doge or SHIB?
UFC star Chuck Liddell has reignited the long-running rivalry between Dogecoin and Shiba Inu. “The Iceman” recently published a Twitter poll to choose between the two most popular meme coins and Safemoon, another popular cryptocurrency on the Binance Smart Chain. With a total of 33.164 votes, Shiba Inu and Safemoon are close to each other (42% and 43%, respectively). Dogecoin managed to get only 14.5% of the votes. Dogecoin phenom Matt Wallace accused the Safemoon community of buying fake votes to get first place. Liddell began his cryptocurrency journey in early November, claiming to have watched several of Wallace’s videos about Dogecoin. The ex-fighter felt like he missed out on his original meme token and started asking the community about the Shiba Inu.
The superstar warrior has also been busy using his non-tradable tokens on Twitter for the past two months. Known for his mohawk haircut, Liddell has emerged as one of the biggest UFC stars of all time after winning the light heavyweight title in a fight with Tito Ortiz in 2004. He announced his retirement in March 2020 with an enviable 21-9 score record. However, he lost his last match against Ortiz in November 2018.
Liddell is far from the only UFC star to embrace cryptocurrencies. Former MMA champion Ben Askren has been a strong Bitcoin fan for years. In May 2020, Eddie Alvarez, another successful fighter, announced that Askren convinced him to buy Bitcoin. The UFC has announced its plan to release a collection of non-changeable tokens (NFTs).
