EMRA Chairman Mustafa Yılmaz said, “A 16 percent reduction was made in electricity tariffs in the industrial subscriber group. With another decision taken by our Board, we reduced the electricity ceiling price in the free market from 4,800 Turkish lira/megawatt hour to 4,200 Turkish lira/megawatt hour.”
EMRA, at the last meeting of the year, both determined new electricity tariffs and lowered the electricity ceiling price in the free market from 4800 TL/MWh to 4200 TL/MWh.
Evaluating the issue, EMRA Chairman Mustafa Yılmaz emphasized that they carefully monitor the price movements in the energy markets and the costs incurred on the basis of resources.
Yilmaz said:
“There is no increase or raise for residential subscribers in the new tariff period. Currently, residences benefit from the lowest tariff. In the industrial subscriber group, there is a 16 percent discount. In addition, with another decision taken by our Board, we reduced the electricity ceiling price from 4800 TL/MWh to 4200 TL/MWh in the free market. Thus, we expect the cost of electricity to decrease by 10 to 15 percent, especially in industrial establishments that consume electricity over the electricity price sold in the free market.”
Yılmaz pointed out that the market clearing price ceiling shows the maximum selling price of electricity in electricity trade, and that the price ceiling, which had previously been high due to especially imported coal and natural gas costs, was lowered due to resource-based cost reductions.
EMRA Chairman Yılmaz said, “The decrease in the electricity price in the market is a very important and positive indicator. We will continue to monitor these decreases in costs and reflect them to the market immediately. If the decrease in these prices, which is the most important item when calculating the tariffs, continues, it will reflect positively on the tariffs of all consumer groups.
