Leading NFT marketplace OpenSea reportedly reports that new investments in the new funding round could bring the platform’s valuation to $10 billion.
Leading NFT marketplace OpenSea has received investment offers from potential backers that could bring its valuation to $10 billion, The Information reports. The platform last raised $100 million in a round led by a16z in July. With the investment, the company reached a valuation of $ 1.5 billion.
At that time, OpenSea recorded quite a large NFT transaction volume. The volume, which exceeded 3 billion dollars in August, managed to exceed the level of 2 billion dollars, although it fell in the following months.
While the platform was experiencing its heyday, it was shaken by a scandal. In September, it was discovered that Nate Chastain, head of product, had obtained insider information to purchase products before they were displayed on the homepage. The platform has released an announcement explaining that this attitude does not reflect their values and that Chastain is leaving the platform.
